ORIGINAL ALLSORTS SHOWCASES BRISBANE TALENT
New Brisbane based record label Urchin Entertainment has released its inaugural compilation CD, the culmination of a project coordinated by the Music Business students of Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE.
The CD, entitled Original Allsorts, features both emerging and established acts; all sourced and negotiated by the student group and includes a number of talented female artists such as Bird of the Phoenix Movement, Shiraz Tilley and young emerging artist Jax, as well as the work of up-and-coming photographer Michael Wade.
Established artists include local award winning songwriter and performer 8 Ball Aitken, country artist Linda Street and relatively new acts Bigger Than Belgium and Mummy and Daddy which features local legend John Willsteed of The Go Betweens, Disgraceland and Xero and the vocals of the lovely Su Crowley.
Highlights of the CD are an exclusive track by Edward Guglielmino – never to be released elsewhere, and a live recording by Ed Kuepper of The Saints and Laughing Clowns fame.
A limited physical release of the product is available now through the Urchin Entertainment website (www.urchinentertainment.com) and with the assistance of local distributor Musicadium the CD will be made available digitally through iTunes in late January.
With a number of the acts represented on Original Allsorts being former TAFE students who have gone on to make a career in the music industry the CD is a nice way to celebrate the synergies between artist and manager, emerging and established musicians and support workers.
