The CUS50309 Diploma of Music Business is 18 months. There are exit points at 6 months (CUS30309 Certificate III in Music Business) and 12 months (CUS40309 Certificate IV in Music Business).
In the future we will be offering CUS60309 Advanced Diploma of Music Business which will consist of a further 6 months, making the total study time 2 years if you chose to do all 4 qualifications.
Skill Sets range from 8 lessons to 10 lessons (one lesson a week).
Why do I have to study the Certificate III & IV as well as the Diploma?
The lower qualifications in the package teach students about the basics of the music industry, copyright, law, marketing and negotiation skills among others. The 6 month Diploma section of the course is more strategic and builds on what is learnt in the lower levels.
Therefore industry have advised that students who have not met certain criteria (the main being having previously worked in the business side of the music industry) students need to undertake the 3 levels so as to get the most benefit from their learning.
What days/nights are classes on?
The first 12 months of the Diploma requires on campus attendance 3 days a week, delivered during the day. There will be some requirement for nighttime and weekend attendance due to class projects, though this may not be on a weekly basis. Dates and times for nighttimes and weekends depend on projects and availability of project stakeholders and resources.
The last 6 months of the Diploma requires on campus attendance 4 days per week.
Skills sets are primarily taught at nighttime and on weekends.
Do you have part time options for Music Business courses?
There are no part time options at present, however there are a number of Skill Sets being offered in the Music Business area that will be delivered at night.
